Founded in 2001, Soini Erosion Control Inc., based in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, has been providing expert erosion control services to more than 250 union contractor clients throughout the region. Our core services include the installation of silt fence, hay bales, safety fence, compost filter sock, straw wattles, and customized erosion control systems tailored to the specific needs of each site. Our clientele includes state and private construction contractors as well as municipal public works departments.
The company was founded by William Soini, who started the business with nothing more than a pickup truck and a pickaxe. Through hard work, expertise, and dedication, the company grew steadily year after year. William’s son, Shawn, a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Lowell with a degree in Civil Engineering, played a key role in ensuring all work was performed efficiently, accurately, and to the highest standards. In 2001, Soini Erosion Control became the first and only union erosion control contractor in the country, setting a precedent in the industry.
In 2009, William passed away unexpectedly, leaving the business to his wife, Beverly. As she stepped back from day-to-day operations, ownership transitioned to her granddaughter, Jessica Farrow, who purchased the company in 2021 with a clear vision for growth and expansion.
Jessica is a driven business professional with a strong background in Veterinary Science and extensive experience in customer engagement. Her leadership brings a modern, client-focused approach while maintaining the company’s long-standing commitment to quality, responsiveness, and performance. She continues to build on the foundation established by her grandfather, strengthening relationships with contractors and ensuring every project meets or exceeds expectations.
Today, Soini Erosion Control Inc. operates as a proud union company with four skilled laborers and nine fully equipped trucks. We continue to raise our standards for service, workmanship, and accountability, offering a guarantee on our work performance.
What truly sets us apart is our rapid response time. We understand that construction schedules depend on erosion control being installed quickly and correctly. Our team is equipped to handle projects of all sizes—from jobs lasting only a few hours to large-scale projects spanning months or even years.
We are also the originators of the built-on-site, steel-reinforced silt fence, featuring 12-gauge to 14-gauge wire, heavy wood posts, and secure wire ties. This system provides a durable, long-lasting, and low-maintenance erosion control solution for demanding job sites.

The personnel here are professional and our turnover is very low. We invest a lot of time and effort into each one of our employees. Our employees are OSHA and HAZMAT 40 trained to meet the demands for today’s jobsite requirements.
